Oppo Watch 4 Pro: New smartwatch launches with Snapdragon W5 Gen 1, advanced health features and up to 14 days of battery life
Oppo has finally unveiled the Watch 4 Pro, a smartwatch that looks a lot like its predecessor, the Watch 3 Pro. However, Oppo has made a few notable changes from last year's model, including switching from an aluminium to a stainless steel case design. As such, the Watch 4 Pro officially weighs 52.3 g, 39.4% more than the Watch 3 Pro despite having the same 1.91-inch AMOLED display that resolves at 496 x 378 pixels.
Additionally, the Watch 4 Pro has more pronounced edges than the Watch 3 Pro, arguably making the former look more modern than the latter as a result. Moreover, Oppo has increased the size of the smartwatch's physical buttons, which should make them easier to use. The Watch 4 Pro retains a Snapdragon W5 Gen 1 chipset too, which it augments with 2 GB of RAM and a co-processor that should achieve up to 14 days of battery life from its 570 mAh battery. Please note that Oppo reduces this battery life estimate to 5 days of normal use.
Furthermore, the Watch 4 Pro has a skin temperature sensor, an integrated electrocardiogram (ECG), an 8-channel heart rate sensor and a 16-channel SpO2 sensor. Supposedly, the smartwatch is also compatible with external blood glucose monitors. Elsewhere, Oppo has included an eSIM for LTE connectiviy, an NFC chip for making contactless payments and over 100 sports modes. For reference, the Watch 4 Pro is compatible with devices running at least Android 8.0 or iOS 13. Unfortunately, a global release date remains unknown at this stage. Instead, Oppo is only offering the Watch 4 Pro in China for now, where it is available for CNY 2,299 (~US$316) with a sports band or CNY 2,499 (~US$344) with a leather strap.
